Australian Cereal Rust Control Program -Wheat and barley breeding support
Cereal rust diseases can cause significant yield losses. Genetic resistance in commercial varieties is an important part of the management of rusts in Australia. New rust pathotypes frequently occur in Australia, and can impact the expected resistance of cereal varieties. This project provides a rust resistance screening service for Australian commercial breeding companies to determine the resistance of their elite breeding lines to the latest dominant rust pathotypes. The program provide screening for wheat, barley, oats and durum.
