DataHarvest: a partnership to unlock the value of RD&E data for the Australian grains industry
DataHarvest will work with more than 80 GRDC research partners including grower and farming systems groups, industry service providers, federal and state agencies and universities. It will provide them with the skills and resources required to manage and use RD&E data according to the FAIR principles to make data findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable.
DataHarvest will:
1) Develop online data management resources, including materials and videos, based on GRDC RD&E Data Capture and Storage Guidelines. A handbook with guidelines on the GRDC website for continuous access by research partners.
2) Deliver tailored workshops/courses/webinars to facilitate hands-on learning of FAIR skills by doing. The focus areas will include identifying data for collection and storage, metadata creation, registration of project metadata with the GRDC Data Catalogue, and uploading project data to a relevant GRDC "Approved" Repository.
3) Establish a Support Services Centre to provide ongoing assistance in data management.
4) Provide supervision of the quality control processes for Data Management Plans and Project Metadata registered within the GRDC Data Catalogue.
5) Provide feedback and advice to GRDC management regarding non-compliance issues and opportunities for improvement.
DataHarvest supports GRDC's efforts to improve RD&E data management across its investments to effectively manage RD&E data for the benefit of Australian grain growers. Read more on GRDC's RD&E data web page.
