NGN Improving and understanding the interaction between Water Use Efficiency and Nitrogen Use Efficiency in Canola
Growers participating in National Grower Network (NGN) forums in Southern NSW require canola nitrogen management strategies for different seasonal water conditions. They require data on the most appropriate strategy to deploy in declining, increasing, or stable soil water conditions through the growing season.
This investment will specifically focus on risk associated with early growth, early water use and the role of nitrogen in creating soil water stress later in the growing season, particularly in the critical growth period for canola.
Experimentation design will achieve meaningful differences from N application strategies and detecting interactions between water and nitrogen.
