Herbicide behaviour workshops for the Australian Grains Industry
Herbicides are an essential tool enabling cost-effective management of weeds as part of an integrated strategy. Key herbicides enable growers to control weeds to minimise competition, conserve soil moisture, practice minimum tillage, and grow herbicide-tolerant crop varieties, all of which are critical to the profitability of farm businesses. Herbicides represent a major input cost for grain growers. Hence, understanding of how herbicides work and the factors which impact their usefulness are critical to maximise the effectiveness of grower’s crop input investment. Information has been successfully delivered on pre-emergent herbicides and post emergent graminicides via a workshop series in the northern region, but has not been extended to the southern or western regions. These workshops will extend herbicide behaviour information to include broadleaf post emergent herbicides and the use of adjuvants to all three regions.

Paddock Practices: Updated guide helps reduce risk of pre-emergent herbicide carryover - GRDC
Pre-emergent residual herbicides are an important weed management tool in Australian cropping systems, as they can be used to control weeds that compete vigorously with growing crops for water and nutrients.
Soil behaviour of pre-emergent herbicides in Australian farming systems - GRDC
Weed management is critical to profitable farming. Using pre-emergent herbicides can play a big role in a weed control strategy. They are cost-effective, remove early-season weeds, and protect crop yields.

Pre-emergent herbicides fact sheet - GRDC
With the continued evolution of herbicide resistance, growers are being forced to introduce a range of different weed control tactics.
