MCM00003 - Strategic oversight and coordination of grain protection chemicals
This project seeks to ensure that the Australian grains industry is able to effectively comply with and provide input into domestic and international registration requirements for grain storage protectants and fumigants. This is essential to allow grain to be traded as free of live stored-grain insects and within applicable market and regulatory maximum residue limits for these chemicals. The project will review all domestic and export market regulatory requirements in relation to chemicals permitted to be used on grain. Using this information, it will also provide annual input into domestic and international registration requirements for grain storage protectants and fumigants to assist grain to be traded free of live stored grain insects and in compliance with market maximum residue limits. Liaison with relevant Australian government regulatory authorities and co-ordination of industry meetings, such as the National Working Party on Grain Protection and attendance at the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues are key components of this work.
