Spring/summer sown crops - Case studies of growers in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia

Waterlogging is a critical constraint in the south-west of WA, particularly during seeding and early growth stages.

The Great Southern area is increasingly prone to summer rains, which can fill the soil profile and lead to waterlogging conditions around the autumn break.

Shallow duplex, non-wetting and shallow sandy soils are commonplace in the Great Southern and exacerbate these conditions.
