Rural R&D for Profit-16-13-007 Forewarned is forearmed: managing the impacts of extreme climate events
Forewarned is forearmed focussed on helping growers manage the impacts of extreme weather events. The project had four work packages, which are: user needs and forecast system development; extreme event forecast products; farmer and advisor application development; and extension and training. A key deliverable of the project is five new products to forecast the probability of extreme events that impact agricultural production, such as heatwaves, frosts and excessive rainfall. These were all made available on the BoM's website in 2022. The project was funded by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment, Rural R&D for Profit program. It's led by Meat and Livestock Australia with co-investment from the grains, dairy, pork, sugar, wine and cotton RDCs.
