Herbicide resistance status of grain and cotton cropping regions – strategic insights for RDE

Understanding the extent of herbicide resistance across the Australian grain and cotton growing regions is a critical basis for subsequent resistance investment and awareness. Random national herbicide resistance benchmarking surveys allow a broad and complete picture of herbicide resistance. It also provides the opportunity for emerging resistance issues to be identified early. The proposed investment will utilise exciting collaborations with the Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) and the Analytics for the Australian Grains Industry (AAGI) to deliver a national survey to collect and collate data on weed species distribution and frequency as well as herbicide resistance status across grain and cotton farming systems efficiently and effectively.
